Beads are a passion for designer Linda Gibson, who owns and operates Dakini. She first became interested in creating jewelry after purchasing a pair of earwraps near Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco. She loved the feel and look of the glass beads so much that she began searching out bead stores, and that search is a never ending one!

The name Dakini came to her after reading a book Women Who Run With The Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés Ph.D. (This book is a must for any woman desiring a fuller understanding of that Wild Woman within) There are many names given to the "Wild Woman", different names from different cultures...in Tibet that name is Dakini, "the dancing force which has clear-seeing within women." We all know that doing what you love to do empowers you and causes you to dance through life...the name Dakini seemed to fit perfectly.

Once bitten by the bead bug, the creativity flowed. Linda began making jewelry for herself, then for friends, before long, co-workers were buying her work. Craft faires were next in line. There is nothing quite like the one on one feedback you receive while doing a show. So many ideas are given to us by those who visit the booth at craft faires. It is extremely gratifying.

As well as selling at craft faires, we began wholesaling the jewelry to clothing stores. This has gone so well that the next obvious step was to offer her designs on a much larger scale via the internet.

This is the result of that idea. This website will be constantly changing. If you want e-mail as these changes occur, and you haven't already done so, register here. We will keep you updated as you specify.
