One
day in the eighties, people started talking about angels. Their
popularity flew in on golden wings, in a quite mysterious way
and for no apparent reason. Until then, angels were rarely spoken
of, except from the pulpit, around Christmas and Easter. Some
people said it was a fad, started by escapists who wanted to avoid
life by believing in magic. Others blamed it on the New Age people.
Since
that time, many books have been written on the subject of angels.
Almost everyone you know has an angel in their garden, or a
pin on their lapel or at the very least, an angel calendar.
I
was lucky enough to have a mother who knew about angels. She
felt their presence and taught me to believe in them. The feeling
of being protected by my angel that I had when I was six, did
not change as I got older. I can't remember a time when I did
not feel the protection of my guardian angel.
On
angels and their purpose
Before
spirit entered the material worlds, we were light and sound.
We were ONE with the source. We played in the fields of potentiality,
trying on new experiences and pushing our boundaries to include
new unknown areas. Some of us were pioneering spirits. We were
the ones who decided to take on the great experiment, materialization
without awareness. We said we could be born into a body, as
spirit, and that in the process of living we would remember
who we were, where we had come from and that we were in our
bodies for a short time.
In
order to insure our promise to remember our origins, we made a
pact with the angels, leaving a light being in the spiritual vibration
we came from that was directly connected to our spirit. This light
being, or angel promised to help us remember once we had crossed
the veil of forgetfulness. But the experiment took an unexpected
turn. The power of the physical was greater than we had imagined.
We took our material presence so seriously that the angels could
not get our attention, as planned.
Our
minds quickly took over the task of prompting, a function that
had always belonged to the spirit and our vibrations changed to
a lower frequency. The angels were pushed away from us as we took
on a stronger and stronger belief that we were alone and disconnected
from the light. True to the agreement, our angels have been with
us since the beginning of life in this form.
They
have hovered over the dark and terrible times of human existence
on the planet earth for a time, much longer than our written history
tells. Whenever there was an opening, they rushed in to remind
us of our beginnings. But their promise to awaken us had fallen
into the background of the dark human drama we now believed in.
All they could do was wait for the tides of the human psyche to
change.
The
critical mass needed to shift the vibration of our planet to a
higher frequency came into being in the eighties. At that time,
the angels moved closer to us, and the collective unconscious
began to feel their presence. We became interested in them again
without knowing why. We started to collect figures of them, write
books about them, talk about them on TV and in numerous ways,
reinforce the truth of their existence.
To
be aware of the angel's presence, is to strengthen the reality
of the spirit in each of us and become participators in the original
experiment once again. Remembering our spirit (even Oprah says
it) is what we came for. When we experience ourselves as spirit
again, we will return to the stars from whence we came and be
at one with the angels in full consciousness of our divine origins.
